This was announced during a meeting which was attended by Provincial Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, Former Senator Pervaiz Rashid, MPA Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Secretaries Energy, Finance, Chief Executive Officer PPDCL, Managing Director PPDB and other relevant officers. Chief Minister announced to provide 50,000 solar power systems across Punjab province under “Chief Minister Roshan Gharana Program”. With the initial budget approval of Rs 12.6 billion, 50,000 protected consumers using 100 units monthly will be given solar systems through balloting in Phase I. Gradually home based solar systems will be provided to other consumers of Punjab. A solar system will include two advanced solar panels, an inverter, a lithium battery and other accessories such a wires and connectors.
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz also directed to initiate immediate steps for this pilot project and the installation of one kilowatt solar system. She also directed to bring in solar systems of the latest technology.

Govt of Punjab will collect data from WAPDA to filter out the eligible households in the first phase preference will be given to the users using less than 100 units (KWh) electricity. Fair balloting will be carried out in case there are more than 50,000 eligible applicants.
